Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967. She was born in Atlanta. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation living in Atlanta from her grandfather who was a farmer, John Pendleton Roberts. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young stage. In 1952, while being a student at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. While in Biloxi, Mississippi he was cast as a soldier in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. After 1957, the couple resigned from the air force and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter started work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local TV that was aimed at children, named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. The show was a success and they earned a salary. They later founded the Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for six years. In 1965, they welcomed two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley along with Julia Billingsley.
