April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. The passion for creating songs was sparked. at the age of 12, April came up with her first original song Different. When she was 14, April devoted much of her time singing and writing songs. Soon after she began taking trips to write with her father in NY as well as LA. April also included additional topics in her hit song"Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with issues such as peer pressure issues or even teenage suicide thoughts. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing fan base. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia together, as well as being a lifestyle expert. Lockhart was born with no left hand and that is part of who she is--but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not ignore the fact that she is disabled, but neither does it focus on it. The message is? It's this that we all share multiple identities and are way more diverse than we think that we're. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined by her disability. She doesn't want to be a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a variety of aspects of Lockhart. The issue doesn't affect my everyday routine. I go about doing my job as normal and have found my own ways to adapt. However, it's a component of me so I think it's important to talk about. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that will last an entire lifetime. She is an inspiration with regard to this. She has been through times when she was uncomfortable dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. She now wears any outfit she wishes and shares pictures on her Facebook page with pride. Self-love, she says is a journey. It's hard to say whether you'll get to the final stage. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever arrive. I think it's vital to surround yourself people who can identify and feel your heart.
